Additive Manufacturing (AM, also known as 3D printing) is a technology that creates three-dimensional objects by depositing material layer by layer. Its core principle involves slicing a digital model into thin layers and building up materials (such as plastics, metals, ceramics, etc.) to form a solid. Unlike formative manufacturing (forging, casting, welding) and subtractive manufacturing (machining), additive manufacturing offers advantages such as high design freedom, high material utilization, and the ability to rapidly produce complex structures. Falcontech has built a complete 3D printing industry chain around the Selective Laser Melting (SLM) process — encompassing structural optimization design and simulation, metal powder production for 3D printing, component 3D printing, post-processing (including hot isostatic pressing), machining, performance testing, and 3D printing equipment sales — providing customers with comprehensive metal 3D printing solutions.

The company currently operates over 80 3D printing machines, including equipment from EOS (Germany), Farsoon High-Tech, and Bright Laser Technologies, with a maximum build envelope of 1500×1500×1500 mm and more than 50 medium-to-large format machines (400×400 mm and above). Through more than a decade of continuous R&D, the company has developed and optimized laser parameters, validated processing platform stability, and developed post-processing and surface treatment processes — overcoming challenges in stability, consistency, repeatability, and shape-and-property control of the 3D printing process. For various materials, laser scanning parameters and heat treatment processes have been developed for more than 40 metal materials including titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, superalloys, and stainless steels, establishing a mature full-process manufacturing system. Metal powder raw material specifications, 3D printing technical specifications, and post-processing specifications have been established, along with material property databases for both metal powders and 3D-printed metals.
